All 60 medium cryptograms

Medium cryptograms run eleven to twenty words and give you just one revealed letter. Punctuation stays in, so apostrophes and commas still help you spot word breaks and contractions. Each puzzle has its own permanent page with a play mode, a print sheet and an answer page. Tip: new to this? Read how to solve a cryptogram first.

About medium cryptograms

What they are

Medium cryptograms are longer, between eleven and twenty words, and reveal only one letter. That extra length helps as much as it hurts: more words means more repeated patterns to spot, but you have to find your own way in from a single starting point.

How to play

Pencil in the one revealed letter everywhere it appears, then look for contractions such as DON'T, IT'S and YOU'RE, which keep their apostrophes. Short connecting words like OF, TO, IN and IS often fall next.

Tips

Count letters. E, T, A and O are the most common in English, so the coded letter that shows up most often is a strong candidate for one of them. Look for doubled letters too: LL, EE, SS and OO are frequent, while doubled vowels other than E and O are rare.

Who they suit

This level suits regular puzzle fans, teenagers and adults who can finish easy cryptograms without hints. A medium puzzle is a satisfying fifteen-minute coffee break.

Printing

Print two per page for a good balance of size and paper, with space beneath each coded line for your guesses. Keep the answer page separate for checking.

Medium cryptogram questions

It is roughly twice as long and starts with one revealed letter instead of two. Punctuation still stays in to help with word breaks.

Try the most frequent coded letter as E or T, and test single-letter words as A or I. Contractions are another quick way in.
