About medium sports word search puzzles
What they are
Medium sports word searches add diagonals to across and down. ARCHERY might slope towards the bottom right and CYCLING might climb towards the top right, while every sport reads forwards and keeps its own lane. Puzzles come in three sizes, from a quick 10×10 to a sprawling 20×20 field. The large ones include track-and-field words such as HURDLES, SPRINT and RELAY, which add a nice athletics flavour for summer-games weeks and school sports days.
How to play
Run through four directions from each first letter: across, down and the two forward slants. Time yourself and try to beat your score on the next puzzle.
Tips
Words ending in ING, such as SKATING and DIVING, share a pattern you can scan for on a slant. LACROSSE has a handy double S.
