About medium crosswords
What they are
Medium crosswords sit on a 13×13 grid with longer answers and a denser web of crossings. A typical puzzle takes twenty to thirty-five minutes, and the clue sets range from friendly definitions to sneaky double meanings, depending on whether you pick easy, medium or hard.
How to play
Work through the across clues once, filling anything you know, then switch to the downs. In a grid this size the long answers are the backbone: crack one and it seeds letters into five or six other words at once.
Tips
Watch for clue signals. A question mark at the end means wordplay, an abbreviation in the clue often means an abbreviated answer, and a plural clue usually wants a plural answer ending in S. Leave tricky corners and come back later; fresh crossings make them easier.
