Hard Small Printable Mazes

30 free hard 10 × 10 mazes for teens and adults, and kids who love a challenge. A long, winding route surrounded by decoys.

Hard mazes carve a long winding route first, then grow dozens of short dead-end branches right beside it so the wrong turns look as good as the right one. Every hard maze is measured and rejected unless its route is long and crowded with decoys.

About hard small mazes

What they are

Hard small mazes squeeze a long, twisting route and lots of decoy branches into a 10 × 10 grid. Short dead ends sprout right beside the true path, so a wrong turn looks just as promising as the right one, even on a grid this compact.

How to play

Draw from Start to Finish without crossing a wall. Because the decoys branch off right beside the real route, stop at every junction and look a few squares down each branch before choosing.

Tips

Encourage working backwards from Finish; on a small hard maze that often exposes the route faster than starting at the beginning. Marking each dead end with a dot stops young solvers from trying the same wrong turn twice.

Who they suit

These mazes give six- to nine-year-olds a real challenge without a huge sheet, and they make a fun timed race between siblings. Adults use them as a one-minute brain warm-up.

Printing

Print two to a page for racing, or one large copy for a younger child who needs room. A separate solution sheet is available for each maze.
