About medium mazes
What they are
Medium mazes double the grid to 20 × 20, which quadruples the number of cells and turns a quick trace into a proper hunt. Ninety mazes cover easy, medium and hard routes, and most take between three and fifteen minutes to solve.
How to play
Follow the open corridors from Start to Finish with a pencil, or play on screen with your mouse, finger or arrow keys. When you reach a fork, glance ahead along each branch before you commit; at this size, peeking saves a lot of backtracking.
Tips
Try the wall-follower trick: keep one hand on the same wall the whole way round and you will always reach the exit, because our mazes have no loops. It is slower than spotting the route, but it never fails.
Who they suit
This size is the sweet spot for school-age children from about six to eleven, family puzzle time and classroom early-finisher trays. Adults who want a gentle maze also find medium grids relaxing.
