About kids color word search puzzles
What they are
Kids color word searches use a 10×10 grid with big letters and ten short colors such as RED, BLUE, PINK, GREEN and BROWN. Every color runs across or down, so the puzzle doubles as a gentle reading and color-naming lesson.
How to play
Read each color together, find its first letter, then look right or down. Color the word with a matching crayon once you have found it.
Tips
Hand your child the crayon for each color before they search; holding it helps them remember what they are looking for and makes the puzzle feel like an art project.
Who they suit
These suit children aged four to seven, preschool color lessons, and early English learners. Speech therapists and early-years teachers also use the kids color grids to practise initial sounds, since each color name starts with a clear letter that children can say out loud.
Printing
Kids color puzzles print large on one page; keep a box of crayons beside them. Answers print separately.
