About medium space word search puzzles
What they are
Medium space word searches add diagonals to across and down. JUPITER might orbit towards the bottom right and NEBULA might drift towards the top right, while every word reads forwards and keeps its own squares.
How to play
From each starting letter, test across, down and both forward diagonals. Words at this level never touch, so a circled letter is out of the hunt for good.
Tips
JUPITER has a rare J that is easy to spot. Try finding the planets in order from MERCURY outwards; it doubles as a memory exercise for the order of the solar system.
Who they suit
These suit eight- to twelve-year-olds, science clubs, and anyone who dreams of riding a rocket. Science teachers like to finish a lesson on the planets with one of these grids, then ask students to put the planets they found in order from the sun.
