About space crosswords
What they are
Space crosswords launch you past the sky with answers like ASTEROID, AURORA, ECLIPSE, GALAXY and JUPITER. All six puzzles in this theme are 5×5 minis, so each one is a short countdown rather than a long mission, and they range from easy to hard clue sets.
How to play
Each mini has around eight short answers crossing in a tight 5×5 square. Solve one, and almost every letter you wrote becomes a starting letter for another answer, so even the hard clue sets fall quickly once you are in.
Tips
Many space words are long, but a mini only has room for five letters, so think of short ones: COMET, EARTH, ORBIT, ALIEN, DWARF. Clues about light usually point to stars or an aurora; clues about shadows hint at an eclipse.
Who they suit
Space minis are ideal for young astronomers, science clubs and a quick starter in a solar-system lesson. Because each takes only a few minutes, they also work as a reward after a longer task.
