Puzzle guide

About bee and flower mazes

What they are

Bee and Flower mazes guide a busy bee through a honeycomb of corridors to a bright flower full of nectar. Twelve puzzles rise from simple small grids to a large hard maze, and the theme ties in neatly with lessons on pollination and gardens.

How to play

Fly the bee from Start to the flower at Finish by drawing through open corridors. Walls are like closed petals: the bee must go round them, never through.

Tips

Use the bee's buzzing as a cue: children buzz along the path and stop buzzing at dead ends. For older solvers, discuss how real bees find flowers using smell and colour.

Who they suit

These suit children aged three to eight, science lessons on insects and plants, and summer activity packs. Nature clubs and garden centres also use them for family events.

Printing

Print one per page with the Kids version, then let children colour the flower once they reach it. Answer sheets for the bee mazes print separately.
