About easy food word search puzzles

What they are

Easy food word searches serve up snacks and meals reading only left to right or top to bottom. PIZZA, PASTA, APPLE and SALAD sit in straight lines without overlapping, on grids that range from a quick 10×10 starter to a full 20×20 buffet with up to 25 dishes.

How to play

Read down the menu beside the grid and choose something tasty. Spot its first letter, then follow that row rightwards or that column downwards; at this level the rest of the word can only be in one of those two places.

Tips

Hunt for PIZZA first: its double Z is unmistakable. CUPCAKE and PANCAKE end the same way, so find CAKE and then check what comes before it. Leave tiny words like EGG until the grid has thinned out.

Who they suit

Easy food puzzles suit children from six, healthy-eating lessons in the early grades, and anyone who wants a light puzzle while dinner is in the oven.

Printing

A 10×10 food grid fits neatly on a restaurant placemat-sized half sheet, which keeps children busy while the order arrives. The answer key shows each dish ringed.
